I live on a ,by no means traffic free, quiet suburban road. Was working from home this morning and thought I could here shouting outside.
Looked out of the window to see a group of six, flouro vest wearing, schoolchildren , probably aged between 7 and 10, on bikes , with one adult rider in front and another behind, teaching them to ride properly. The shouting was all about looking over shoulders to pass parked vehicles.
Not sure what the current ” cycling proficiency” scheme may be, but what ever this was certainly seemed a good move.
I guess this had something to do with the local primary school half a mile away, but, was great to see kids being properly taught and moreover being given the opportunity.

I couldn’t believe it when our boy’s primary school didn’t offer cycling proficiency.
I’ve done it myself over the years, but a proper playground setup with junctions, etc would be ideal.
