How ugly are the new cars? They all look like they’ve been to a Dereck Chisora press conference.

Its all because of the regulations saying the nose cone has to be lower so if there is a collision it doesn’t pearce the cockpit of another car. (that bump is so the drivers legs can still fit.

Merc are the only ones to have kept the original styling without that bump. There car was lower anyway to start with.

    Didn’t know that.

The McLaren looks ok as well.

think fourcross john means mclaren are the only ones to keep orginal styling. merc is prob the most extreme looking of the new ones on the nose.

They’re only ugly if they’re slow.

I just hope that McLaren is quick.

Adrian Newey said they’re ugly, and he’s an expert.

They look as ugly as the last year and the year before ad infinitum to me. When there’s a prettiness regulation I’m sure they’ll get Laura Ashley in to chintz them up a bit.

Fugly, the Maclaren looks sleek however.

They look like dodgy Indycars to me

However, after 30 years of being a big F1 fan, especially over the last 5 years where i’ve hardly missed a race, i’ll be turning my back on F1 due to the live races being on Sky

On the upside, i’ll get way more cycling done!!

    Just cancelled $ky.
    Might watch the BBC ones.
Not sure what other channels I can see it on for free here.
Do Radio5Live have all the races?

Probably missed a maximum of about 10 races since Nigel Mansell won at Brand Hatch, so I guess that record will go out of the window now.

McLaren looks OK, unlike most of the others. Need to see a better close up of the Merc before deciding if it’s alright.

Wouldn’t like to be speared by one of those noses, they all look fairly sharp, unless they are deformable. Not convinced about the looks, suppose it will grow as the season progresses. Still like the mid-90s coke bottle shapes, much less fussy designs. Find it interesting that so many designers have come up with a similar result to meet the new regulations. Hopefully we will get close racing this year allowing the drivers to shine rather than the design teams, well I live in hope!

Can someone exaplin the sky tv thing to me?

Some races are on the BBC?
    Some races are on Sky?

Are all the Sky races on the HD channel so if you don’t have HD you’re screwed?

Kryton57 – Nope – Sky will have SD and HD F1 channels. If you have a Sky sports subscription or HD subscription (or both) you will be able to watch all of the races. (Although obviously only in SD if you only have SD + Sky Sports).

Lots of people in a tizz about it, very amusing if you already had Sky. Lots die hard fans threatening to not even watch the BBC races + highlights, despite not having missed a race since Fangio… blah blah blah. Don’t sound very committed fans to me.

Personally I think it is a masterstroke from the BBC and FOM. They get to show a large proportion of the best races live but a lot of the crappy ones that nobody normally wants to waste 4 hours on get shown as prime time highlights shows which will have loads more viewers than would have watched that race live.

Oh good, I have sky sports already 🙂

So the BBC is just the highlight shows?
