Just bought another MTE p7 but it doesn't seem to be working properly.
If you insert a battery then put the end on and tighten the threads up properly the light won't work, but if you unscrew the end a bit the light comes on?
I seem to remember some advice about dodgy contacts and similar in the past, can anyone shed any light (ho ho) on what's up?

Mine does exactly the same sometimes.
Clean up all the threads, bend the contacts a bit so they're pressing on the battery some more, and don't overtighten the end cap on...
Just a bit concerned that water will be able to get in if its not tightened properly.
Nah, there's a full compliment of O rings in there...
I didn't say don't tighten properly, just don't overtighten. There is a subtle difference!
Inside the end cap is a bit with two little holes in that screws in, that holds the switch and all that gubbins. It is probably slightly loose. Unscrew it slightly then screw it back in and make sure it is in solidly. That should fix it, and let you tighten it up properly.
You need a pin spanner, or something with two prongs on it to unscrew it - I used the pointy bits off a voltmeter, in the past have used a pointy skewer thing from the kitchen, or the end of a small cross head screwdriver for the same purpose.

This is quiet common ! A brilliant torch but I think the cost is kept down by skipping QA.
I've bought 2 for myself and 2 more for friends. Out of this 4 - 2 developed similar faults. Another had a "driver" fault that required soldering.
