I want to move the router and keep the TV plugged in. I have no idea of what Ethernet cables are needed. I understand that there are different qualities but what is really needed? Cat 5? Cat 6?

cat5 will be fine. Cat 6 has a few benefits mostly aimed at getting faster speeds, but unless you have exceptional internet connectivity it won’t make any difference to you

Ta. BT say 4.5Mb at the moment so I reckon a bit of string would work.

Dont buy cat5, at least get some cat5e solid copper, avoid CCA cable.
