Since I don’t have window cleaner or rubbing alcohol (whatever that is) can I just use the Mrs hairspray like with other grips? or is there something else I can use?

I used (cheap) aftershave. You need something that is going to provide lubrication and then evaporate off so the grips stick. Rubbing alcohol is isopropyl alcohol (IPA, propanol) (normally) as it evaporates quickly and is relatively harmless.

Hair spray will work as long as it stays wet enough. Water also works but takes longer for thegrips to become useable.

Maybe not lynx as it will leave a slippy residue? Cheap window cleaner would be fine.

Lynx worked fine, slipped on then set very fast…bike smells of ‘Africa’ now though

I think lynx is a bad idea – the powdery stuff in an anti-perspirant is going to mean your grips don’t stick very well to the bars. Just buy a litre of IPA, it will last you for ages and have lots of other uses as well.
