A relative newbie on here.

I have 2012 avid elixir 7’s and the pads are gone. Am I right in thinking that they are organic pads as standard? I am tempted to get SS sintered ones but heard that they aren’t quite the correct fit, is that nonsense? Also, does anyone have experience of the EBC pads, as they seem good value.

I’ve a set of elixir 5’s and fitted a set of sintered SS pads at the trailside during the Tour de Ben Nevis with no problems.
I used to find the juicy pads needed a little filing either side but I’ve had 12 sets of the SS elixir pads and they’ve all fitted fine.

I think that any elixir shaped pads will fit. Technically I believe that the use of non OEM pads will void your warrantee though – so worth keeping an old set to drop in if you ever have to send them back.

I’ve used Superstar pads in elixir 5s, Rs and XX and not had any problems.

I had to scrape a bit if paint off the back of my superstar red pads to get them in my Elixirs, no biggie really and they work just fine & dandy too.
