My daughter is going to take up MTB riding and since I'm in Hove I do not know what is available locally, without travelling to the moors. If anyone can advise on a few simple local routes with some roads perhaps, I'd be grateful.

Get in touch with Trailmonkey from bikedartmoor.com – he lead us round a great loop starting from Denbury last year.

Lots and lots of BW's RUPP's BOAT's and FP's in the area. All a little over populated with brambles and bracken at the moment but usually pretty weather proof and generally good fun. Lots of riding to be done straight form K'swell out towards Totnes and more to be had going the other side of the Torquay road and heading over Milber towards Babbacombe Bay.

My advice would be to grab OS 110 Torquay and Dawlish, and just put a few routes together yourselves. You'll soon find out what works as a climb descent, what to ride/avoid etc.
