    Feel pretty stupid but ..

I have a new road bike with narrow tyres and thin tubes (700×23). Now I need to change the tube but the tyre is f***ing tight! Any tricks to getting it on and off?

    Tyre levers.

deflate the tube so that the beads drop into the 'well' of the rim – gives you a little more room to get one side of the tyre off.

It always worries me when I have to resort to big levers at home as I know I'd be stuffed on the road if I had a problem.

Insert tyre levers at the 'six o'clock' position when the valve is at the 'twelve o'clock' position. That's generally reckoned to be the point at which the tyre is loosest.
