Just searching a cupboard for something and found an old camera of mine. It reminded me of how I briefly flirted with photography as a hobby and it got me thinking about other dull pastimes I tried out - fishing and golf. What's the dullest hobby you tried before discovering the joys of Mountain Biking.

photography, fishing and golf are all decent enough just lack adrenaline buzz. dull for me is films, tv, hifi in the when people are really into it rather than just a normal casual interest.

Oi! I don't find snapping dull at all. Perhaps it depends what you point the camera at ?

OK golf is alright - I was just crap at it. I usually ended up chucking the clubs further than I could hit the ball.

It can be dull when its cloudy, but I like to skywatch at night..

I did vaguely collect stamps once when I was little.

Oh yeah
I've travelled on some when the trains have been cancelled, but I guess it would be pushing to call it a hobby. Was pretty dull though

I briefly flirted with barbed wire ....... as in the 'Antique Barbed Wire Society'
Happiness Is Being a Barbed Wire Collector

Although I quickly abandoned that, to absorb myself in my new hobby of amateur gynaecologist :

Dullest Hobby Ever?

I once had a phase of collecting the sticky labels off fruit and veg. Had 250 when I decided to get a life.

I used to collect badges when I was a kid, until I realised that all I had gained was a draw full of badges

7 years of muai thai. Hit bag. kick bag. Hit opponent. Get hit by opponent. Kick opponent. Get kicked by opponent. My shin has split. Rest. Repeat. Ooh yes and I collected sticky granny smith labels too.

LOL - I've done that ! All up the the kitchen wall they were. No idea how many though, I just used to peel them off bananas, oranges etc and slap them on the wall - certainly well less than a hundred. You get some right pretty ones doncha ? The ones off melons were best - and biggest

Not an intentional one but I seem to have hundreds of used inner tubes in the garage. Not sure it classes as a hobby though.?

I did the fruit sticky label one, still have a nice "breaburn" collection on the monitor at work. Sad.
When I was a sad and lonely young pre-teen I built model aircraft. had a collection of variants of the F4 Phantom, it was about 30 strong German ones, Korean ones, photo recon ones...Duller than dull

Some people spot Pylons: http://www.pylons.org/

I particularly like the airport carousels and the park benches, plus there was a link to a pylon appreciation site somewhere.
I briefly flirted with the idea of a collection of photos of manhole and drain covers - started taking the pictures but got bored with it.
Virtual Staplers are cool, too.

A mate of mine collects bricks...

Some people like following the antics of overpaid, drug addled, rapist millionaires as they kick a ball around a bit and pretend to be injured by crying a lot.
Dull? I'd rather repeatedly slam my nuts in a kitchen drawer.

Captain - slamming your nuts in a drawer - although, probably not dull but a little suspect me thinks. & probably smats a bit
Posted 2 years ago # -
in order they 'happened'...

the pylon link... Oh my **** lord all mighty. Brilliant. That's the funniest and at the same time the saddest thing I have seen in a long time.

I went curling once, it was like a slippy game of lawn bowls but with brushes.
Stamp collecting for a very short time for a badge in Cubs.
Golf - how to ruin a good walk

trolling

Home hi-fi buffs when they get serious are rather boring.

Photography's good - you're always looking at/for things and often see them in a different light.
Fishing's cool. It's hunting, and I have a license that covers several rivers, so sometimes, I don't take a rod and walk along the riverbank looking for likely spots. Sometimes I come home with a nice fresh bit of trout as well.
Tried golf as a career move a couple of years ago. One of the dullest things I can imagine. Almost as dull as "I'm so posh/clever I don't get get football"Posted 2 years ago # -
Did the sticky fruit thingy FFS still on the table legs at work.
