I live in a house with a basment and since clearing out the guttering recently, the basement flood when we have heavy rain. There are light boxes at the basement windows and the water cimes up through the drain in the light box on one side of the house and in through the window frame.
I had a good poke around down there tonight and the drain seems to be a soakaway about 1.5m deep. Is there anything I can do to make it work better. I am rather worried becuase the ground is pretty dry at the moment so the problem will only get worse over the winter.

I don't really understand why this has just started to happen after 4 years here, it's not eh first time the guttering has been clear either.

Will it help if I get someone to suck the drain out?
