Twice? ohh FFS that would have resulted in a stewards enquiry and delayed the whole process!
Who knows why these things take the time they take. After the heat of the moment I don’t expect the first thing people think of is expressing their gratitude via a long-winded application to the honours system. Like I say – in the first instance someone (or probably quite a few people) needs to make the nomination but theres also a bit of a checks and balances process to make sure the nomination is valid, (the person is who people say they are, did what people say they did etc). You also can’t nominate someone for a specific honour – so how to recognise someones actions through the various gongs available needs to be decided.
Its good that a bit of time has passed – it hadn’t even occurred to me that West Gate Mall attack was so long ago it seems like it could have been 6 months ago and like it could have been 10 years ago – so taking a bit of time to think back to that event and his actions now is a fine thing.
