if you had the opportunity to do something that you'd love to do, that would be a total blast, once in a lifetime experience, but it would mean you'd be recognised in the street/pub etc would you do it?

If it involves a big black man, leather restraints and gummy bears then no.

I wouldn't recommend it. The plastic surgery I've had to endure so that I can walk the street in peace. Ever since faking my burger-related death

so you'd have no problem being stopped in the street, hassled in pubs etc?

no nudity, no black buggery, just something that I can proceed with or not, and i don't know if its worth it. i don't have any huge desire to be on TV, I don't want to be well known but the project would be a huge pile of fun.

Yep, I'd love to be known as the guy who shot Tony Blair.

No problem at all. So long as it didn't go quite as far as people trying to photograph me in bed etc, general recognition would not be a problem. Unless it was for being a catastrophic failure at something, then i might not like it as much.

I'd have thought that unless your about to do something of biblical proportions, bringing about world peace and ending all war, curing cancer and solving poverty, that you'll be forgoten about again in a week with all the rest of the "famous" TV stars. So dont worry about it and get on with it.

Depends on how long people are likey to remember you – a few days/weeks is ok – for life, prob not.

Go for it, if it's the only thing you do the fame will pass (if it is just a fun thing, not shooting a head of state or something) and you will have a great memory.

It depends who recognises you doesn't it?

If I had the chance of doing something so awesome that drinks were on the house and girls were fighting each other for the chance to fellate me wherever I went then that would be one thing. If you ended up being followed around by elderly ladies, or spat at in the street then that's something else entirely.

Dunno, my Dad was on countryfile on the BBC just about every month last year, the fact he's never been recognised proved two things:

    1) only his parents watch countryfile
    2) he looks better with his teath in

I've been on TV several times* (with a name check, not just an extra in a crowd), but strangely still don't get people coming up to me in the street.

*on Saturday morning at the sort of time only children and parents are up, so you've probably not seen me.

If you'd love to it, would be a total blast and a once in the life time experience then for the sake of 5 minutes of local fame then there's only one thing to do.

You'd be doing it for you, if it's just local fame then it won't last and become a continued burden for you.

    One life.

Nearly ended up presenting an environmental show on the telly a couple of years back… it did cross my mind that I am so not that type of person, but the show itself and the projects that were being lined up were so interesting I thought… why not. Alas it got canned at the 11th hour 🙁

Considering an independant job at the moment too, more as a means to an end and doing something really fun than anything else 😉 So yes… go for it! Better to do that than always think "what if".

I've seen this from the other side. I have a friend who was/is a TV 'star'. At the time she was on a soap, and therefore was very well known. I knew her well before she was 'famous' and therefore it didn't really occur to me that she was.
Having been in Sainsburys with her where guys would shout at her and one really funny bloke decided to ask her about her s3xual proclivities in the frozen foods aisle, been forced to leave pubs as same treatment as people think its funny and pretty much some sort of reaction everywhere. Although the queue to get her autograph as she shopped for Tampons does still make me giggle….
I'd pass thanks as its just not worth it. And she reckoned the same but didn't complain as she knew it was part of the 'job'.
And no, I'm not naming her and its not Jordan FFS ! 😀

    Do it.

I was on the telly once for about 2 mins air time, no big deal. Only a hand full of people recognised me shortly after and no one has mentioned it since.

I was on TV once and don't get recognised at all.

Mind you, it was a profile shot as I was walking past the camera during the Alderney election several years back (broadcast on Channel Islands BBC), and I had different coloured hair, so it's not really surprising.

Anyway, back on track. Yes, do it.
