This arrived just now from McAfee. I have no connection with them at all. nor have I used any of their products…ever, as far as I know.

It was sent to my gmail address…the one that I use for STW, other forums, online accounts with retailers, Adult Friend Finder, etc

    Dear steve boyd,

Thanks for redeeming your McAfee LiveSafe eCard. Now you’re all set to get the most out of your McAfee LiveSafe subscription.

Just go to your My Account page to install McAfee security products on all your devices.

    Go to My Account: http://home.mcafee.com/root/MyAccount.aspx?affid=0&culture=EN-GB

Remember, there’s a lot more to McAfee LiveSafe than just device protection. So look around your My Account page and discover everything McAfee LiveSafe has to offer. And if you haven’t already done so, don’t forget to download the McAfee Central app for Windows 8.

    Sincerely,

    The McAfee Team

Do I need to cover the house in tin-foil for a while?

It looks like it’s genuinely from McAfee, but what could a scammer be doing?

EDIT: My name isn’t Steve Boyd.

    Well, Steve.

It’s time to head to the bunker.

Looks like a genuine McAffee web address. My guess is that Steve Boyd has a gmail address very similar to yours.

I’d go to https://service.mcafee.com/ContactCustomerService.aspx? and tell them about it – they will probably be able to to confirm it’s an error.
