    It depends
Am I marking work or talking in the internet?

Do they want my help or dont they?
Do I understand what they said or not?

Corrections on the internet are rarely ever done to help anyone and the main reasons are
    1. you are a grammar pedant
    2. you want to look smart/them to look dumb
    3. It is humorous

8 out of 10, got the dangling participle wrong and the comma splice. It’s a bit crap as it tells you waht the right answer is but doesn’t explain why

Yes, yes I do. And I got 90% so feel suitably vindicated.

You could secure your front wheel with a suitable bolt and some nuts and it would work fine, but that doesn’t make it right or desirable now does it?

I don’t generally because the danger of being hoist by one’s petard is so high as I have brilliantly illustrated. In mitigation, I was so happy to get the link to work, I didn’t think about punctuating it.

Got them all right but since it’s my job to be a grammar pedant, you’d hope so.

Didn’t agree with their spelling of Neville though 😉

Not all of that test involved grammar: some of it was just a puntuation test.

    Typically Telegraph.

What is punctuation if not grammar?

8/10, messed up on gerunds and further/farther. Bit annoying as I actually have a degree in reading and writing (years since I used it in anger, though).

I don’t generally correct people on their grammar (unless they’re asking) because I’m not a ****. Well, no, I probably am a ****, but at least I’m not the sort of **** who pulls people up on their grammar. 😉

How are we with mathematical errors?

Why are they in financial trouble again?

Ninfan – that is both brilliant and shocking. Truly shocking for a bank. But then UBS for many years had – You and Us, a great two man team, or words to that effect.

I was one of those consulted (amongst many, many others) when The Co-Operative changed their name to co-operative food, co-operative funeral services etc.
I protested at the time and was told it was a ‘yoof fing’.

The business started to decline rapidly after they dropped the capitalisation. 🙂

That’s why grammar is important. 😀

50%, not bad considering I clearly know nothing about grammar. 🙂

Same here, I’m sure a ‘gerund’ is what my gran used to call a chamber pot.

Bit of a crap test really. Knowing what something is called has absolutely no bearing on whether you know how to use it correctly or not.
