My brother, who lives near Bath, rides with one of the GMBN guys, and because I am often in the area to visit him, I wonder about catching up with one or more of the GCN guys. At the same time, I assume they must almost get swamped with people ‘offering’ to ride with them, or stopping by the studios, or whatever.

Considering how many Northerners are on this forum, especially in the Greater Manchester area, would it be right to assume that the STW folk are beating off wannabe riding mates with sticks?

I once bumped into the STW massive in a pub in Todmorden. I was utterly startstruck and was given a badge, which I proudly wore on my Camelbak until it fell off.

Mostly this. But when I say ‘catching up with’, I mean more something like ‘say hi and have a chat with’, or ‘buy a pint for’.

I guess not as many offers as you may think but when it does happen the person expects photographers, fame, glory and free stuff.

So thats why the lifer subs (with stw group ‘rides’) are so popular!
