Just walking through a car park, and seen a posh Beemer, Merc, and a few others that don't seem to have rear wipers.. Had a look and really can't see, and unless they are 'hidden' very well under the boot, how do they keep the window clean?!

Non estate cars rarely have rear wipers, no matter how expensive.
hatches or saloons - most saloons dont have em, they dont really need them
It's the shape. Basically the crap runs off, through the boot and out the bottom.
It works suprisingly well....
my Merc doesn't, I miss having one when its a damp morning and I need to reverse!
Saloon cars don't need them like hatch and estate cars do, as tyhe crap swirls around and ends up on the boot, not the window.
Most posh cars don't have indicators either IME.
Yeah - mainly on estates & hatchbacks, but not saloons.
I remember the Ford Orion had one at one point (although I think it might have been after they rebranded it under the Escort name) and it looked weird.
Yeah, it was - here's a pic (won't let me inbed it)
Saloons and coupés don't normally have rear wipers. Hatches, estates and school run tractors do.
The application of wipers is purchase price agnostic - you just want to have a dig at your colleagues who are earning more than you...
Jeez, 9 posts in and no one has mentioned the posh cars you meet in the countryside that also don't seem to have a reverse gear?
My Honda Accord isn't posh and it doesn't have one. Don't need one. The wind keeps is clear.
My car's not posh, but it has a wiper.
The thing is, it doesn't work!
APF
The wind keeps the rear window clean on my Passat when driving, but when you set off you can't see naff all backing out of the driveway, and for the first five or ten minutes depending on how much town driving you have to do.
Surely people driving "posh cars" have no need to see through the back window, as they never use their mirrors anyway.
(Except for applying lipstick obviously)

Rubber edge on ice scraper. 15 seconds. Off you go.
I love how the inability to see out of a car is somehow down to the design rather than the operator..!
My old civic didn't have was a bit of a pita at times, a good covering of rainx helped greatly.

I tend to do this out of habit on my car if the windows are wet before I set off.

Everything is always somebody elses fault!
Isn't the modern age of zero accountability wonderful ...

Yes, obviously the operator should get out of their car to clear their rear window every time they've stopped at traffic lights.
how do you cope with rain falling on your side windows?
here's a pic (won't let me inbed it)
The wifes got a saloon and theres no rear wiper which she moans about from time to time.
must...resist...joke
Rubber edge on ice scraper. 15 seconds. Off you go.alternativley select reverse check mirros notice rear windows condensation switch wipers on. 2 maybe 3 seconds. off I go. Cheap n nasty hatchbacks eh?

Side windows are vertical. Far less rain falls on them.
they dont have indicators or bluetooth either
a good covering of rainx helped greatly.
REALLY posh cars have heated wing mirrors.
I have a heated rear window and electric folding mirrors, I noticed the other day that I'd driven 10 miles without ether looking in my mirrors, out of the back window or using my indicators. I drive a merc, therefore it is my right.

Mine has those, and it's not exactly posh.
No light in the boot though, which causes my blood to almost boil on occasion.....black boot, black clothes in a black kit bag......trying to change into some dry clothes in the rain after a muddy ride, now where are those socks!? AAARRGHHH! Probably another bit of angst to add to the middle class thread.
Don't be silly - what do you think our Batmen and Valets are for? Send them out a few minutes before departure with a chammy and a scraper and the chauffeur will be able to leave exactly on time.
My VW Polo has a tiny rear wiper, and I think it also has hydrophilic glass in the rear window - every drop of water seems to end up on there.
My Merc has a rear wiper AND indicators... Maybe it's a counterfeit?
its a van isnt it
