My google-fu is a bit tired and exhausted after trying to search for this.

Im wanting to make some cabinets&drawers for my van but I dont want to go down the traditional campervan route of knock on edging as I don’t like the rounded non flush door fronts that you need for this edging. I also dont like the tradional ‘wood look’ colour palettes. I basically want to make a glossy ikea style kitchen with flush fit doors and edgebanded/taped edges, but for a van.

Does anyone know of anywhere that does pre laminated 8’x4′ 15mm board with complimenting edging?

    They are very helpful

I got 2 sheets of Vorhinger ply from Grassroots Leisure in Somerset. Had to go and collect it myself. Most places don’t like delivering small quantities as the top and bottom sheets often get scratched or damaged by the courier.
The edge banding I had done by a place in London called C Workshop. I cut the boards to the size & shape I wanted and then they run a router along the edges to be banded and pressure glue the tape directly afterwards in a single operation. There are limitations on the bend radius of any curves and internal cutouts can’t be done on the machines either. They did a good job of the work but when I went back to get some more bits done for the next project they were a bit disorganised and reluctant to do it (think staff had changed).
This is all 4 years ago when I made a pod for my VW Beach. Worth the hassle as the banded edges have stood up very well.

Some photos of my pod on this posting on another forum :

colour is Titanium and the board and banding are a very good match.

where in the world are you?

I use Rearo Laminates for this kind of thing (who are mostly in Scotland but also Gateshead and Newport). They make up laminate boards in-house so you have a much larger range to choose from if you want to buy something ready to use.

That said – on a smaller scale applying laminate yourself isn’t hugely taxing (its not that difficult on a large scale either if you want to do whole sheets) – it would also give you an opportunity to save some weight – go mad with a hole saw on your board before you apply the laminate.
