Got a relatively new set if lyrics (w/ New bike in jan), we’re mega plush, running real nice. Big descent down Snowdon last weekend, felt good, remember thinking how plush they felt as I launched the drainage ditches down telegraph valley…anyway.. pulled biked out on Thursday and they’ve lost all there plushness..just feel firm and bouncy (!) Like an old 90’s fork.. im no suspension expert but played with the various adjustments to no avail..just cant get them back to feeling nice. Point of interest, when I dial rebound down to slow they seem to dive through the travel. Any ideas??

You’re mixing two problems there.

1. Air trapped in lowers – causes you to struggle to get full travel. Solution is a tiny zip tie squeezed down the wiper seals. Doesn’t sound like your problem – but give it a go first, as it’s easy to do. Finger nail on the seal, prize it open a tiny bit and then push a tiny zip tie down the wiper seal. If it’s the problem, then you’ll hear a little squirt of air come out.

2. Blocked Transfer port = air gets stuck in the positive air chamber, and can’t get into the negative. This sounds closer to your problem, as they’ll feel all bouncy and po-go like.

Solution is to strip them down, and clean the air rod and get the grease off the transfer port.

Are you struggling to get much travel?

That happened to mine, was trapped air and needed the lowers popping off and then re-inflating.

Look for an online tutorial for a lowers service and just do the first bit.

You can do that, or the zip-tie trick. The problem with whipping off the lowers is that you may lose some oil, and have to top up, and you can still cause the same problem again. Zip-tie avoids that fuss 🙂

Strip and clean the lowers should fix it

Stripping down the fork won’t fix the issue *if* it’s the transfer port that’s clogged.

You’ll need to remove the air assembly, and clean *inside* the stanchion. It’s this bit here:

A blob of grease can get in there.

Now…. before doing that…. pump up the fork to max pressure recommended, and bounce on the fork. That may free up the grease, if it’s blocked.

Nice one guys, will try a few of the above and report back. Freaking annoying on a new fork that’s had limited use!
