  • Derby rims – what tyre brands fit easily?

I have a set of Derby 29er AM rims on order.

On my Stans I find a lot of variation with how easy it is to mount and remove different tyre brands. I want to be able to inflate tubeless with a track pump, and be able to get them off on the trail with levers to put a tube in if needed.

So what works OK on the Derbys? (Specialised would be a good answer).

    Thx.

These are what I have tried and go up and are easily taken off

    Specialized
    2.3 Slaughter Grid & control
    2.3 Butcher Control
    Maxxis
    2.3 Minion DHF
    2.5 Minion DHF
    2.3 High Roller

    2.35 Bonty XR3

Tried this one and it was easy to go up but a pig to get off due to the channels
    Schwalbe 2.35 Hans Dampf

Don’t forget your spare tubes need a longer than normal valve !!!

    Thanks @Moda that’s really handy.

For the record I also mailed Mr Derby himself, his timely response was basically “most tyres will fit fine, use what you’re used to, but put new ones on as other rims can be oversized and stretch the beading of seated tyres so they might risk a burp if reused”.
