    Hi,

Saw one of these at the weekend and quite fancied it. Carbon forks and seat stays – none of the big brands get you that for anywhere near that price. Looking for something for commuting and some occasional road cycling.

Anyone think this seems a good buy/or not? No reviews in sight on Google.

    Triban 5 £499

Is it worth £200 over the Triban 3? Triban 3 £299

    Cheers

This being STW, someone will be along shortly to tell you to spend a few grand…

Looks very similar to mine (apart from the colour), though mine’s a 2009 “Sport 2” rather than a “Triban 5”.

Not really got anything to compare it to – not ridden any other road bikes, but I like it. Seems realiable, bit heavy maybe but still a lot lighter than my MTB, fast, comfortable enough for 7+ hour rides.

Apart from the bar tape coming loose the only real downside are the Sora gears, you can’t upshift the rear derailleur or downshift the front from the drops – it uses a little lever that you can only reach from the hoods.
