What are the differences in these lights?

    http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.25149
    http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.44676

    Anyone have either (or both)?
If so how do you mount the first one, does it come with a mount?
Any chance of some beam shots of both and how weatherproof are they?

Are these the best options for a cheapo light available.

    Cheers

First one mounts with a o-ring.

I’ve taken some beamshots of the 2nd one, although mine came from spokeshirts, not DealExtreme.

    http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/spokeshirt-light-beam-shots-pics-of-helmet-mount

The beamshots in that link are what you should expect from the 2nd light you link to, compared to my Lumi led conversion.
A friend of mine has the other light and they are quite similar in terms of output.

My Spokeshirts light survived the soaking wet D2D and several wet rides since. I think the original DX light had a battery prone to water ingress, but I think that’s sorted now.

Cheers, those pics look pretty awesome.
Shame it doesn’t look like you can get the helmet mount from DE.

Can anyone with the top light comment on how weatherproof it is?
I don’t want a light that’s gonna die on me during use.

Waiting for my 2nd DX light to be delivered, you can buy the helmet mounts on there own, weather proofing of the batteries now sorted great light for the money no problems with mine and I use mine every week!

Mines (top version) been fine for a year, though the battery is now quite poorly. To be fair I did add some hot glue to the top seals on the battery, these eventually cracked & probably let some water in.
As mentioned, sealing is supposed to be better now or you can get one with the newer battery (cheaper than the newer version head unit, which still has the same LED): http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.44459

You can also get the head mount & extension cable separately from

    EDIT: Here

    Brilliant, thanks!

Anyone had any trouble with using the o-rings to mount the light? Do they keep the unit secure enough during use?

Lovely, time to get one of these bad boys ordered.
Not appreciating the sudden shortening of daylight hours for those of us that aren’t up at 6am!

Has the bar mounting in this model solved the vibration issues? Is this model worth the $20 extra over

Has anybody had a UK charger supplied from DX?

    Thanks

Got the top one – waterproofed battery in a balloon with a cable tie – been like that for loads of very wet rides!

O-ring broke after a while – went to B+Q and got a pack of plumbing O-rings and they are working fine and only cost about a quid!

When not so broke will order one of the new batteries as a spare!

The top one’s battery has carboard ends. You wont be putting it in a bucket of water too often 🙂 The fabric cover keeps most of normal rain etc off, but long term this is the neatest long term waterproof solution I’ve found:

The O rings are fine for most. They can vibrate giving a strobe effect but a cheap solution I can vouch for is: http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/solutions-to-magicshine-vibrateshake-on-the-bars

    Just buy them!

    Aren’t the lights from http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.44676
the same as the lights from Spokeshirt but half the price at dx? 😕

essentially they are the same yes! the battery is different though. well, it at least has a different housing.

i’ve got 44676, and it’s great. the bracket does wobble about on very rough ground at speed (disco disco), but i’m going to try alternative brackets that aren’t quite so stalk like…

i’ll post a review in a few days, once i’ve done a couple more rides with it and report back. will compare with my lumi led conversion with a kit from cutter

ah ok thanks. so when everyone keeps saying the spokeshirt lights are great vfm, the dx ones are super superb vfm!

anyone tried the mickey mouse ear ones from dx – any good or not worth it?

cp – how is the new battery pack (on the 44676), with led display, like compaired to the original bagged battery?

Mickey Mouse reviews, I did meet Moggy (BR) the other day and he was very happy with his mickey mouse version, once he’d beefed up the clamp to stop it slipping round the bars.

I’ve not got an old one to compare to. The new battery though is very solid, and appears to be fully waterproofed in its sealed plastic container. The velcro strap to hold it onto the frame/stem is really really solid. The top of the case is shaped to match a round tube, and has a piece of closed cell foam bonded to it to help security against the frame.
