Got the day off today – no wife, no kids, no work!!! How excited am I?

Anyone got any recommendations for a good film to get engrossed in?

Fancy something which will be really absorbing. Something along the lines of I-robot, District 9, Sunshine.

ideally bit of Sci Fi, Thriller and / or adventure action.

just watched 'We are marshall', based on a true story. Thought that was pretty good and engrossing. Couples retreat was not bad either

Watched first 45 mins of avatar but couldn't get 'into it'.

Or, just get out on the bike man

Lord of the Rings trilogy special edition, for bulk if nothing else.

11.5 hours. Then there's the extras. You might want to lock down for a couple of days… 😯

Your clue to it's crappiness should have been that it's got John Trovolta in it.

He should have stopped after Pulp fiction.

Travolta in Face Off was good, and then he should have stopped.

The last Star Trek movie is pretty good for sci fi.
24 season 7 as a thriller is quite enjoyable.

"all the presidents men" bit retro (70's film) but shows state of play how to do political intrigue (although obviously it's not sci fi or adventure)

Moon does look good but is it a film to watch while on you own?

That "Apocalypto" thing that was on on Sun was very good.

Would love to ride my bike, but knackered from yesterday

What I meant about Moon was – I'm on my own today and if it is about loneliness I don't want to finish my day a gibbering wreck

It was just crap mate, ended up walking off after about 45 mins, it just goes on and on, Mandi watched the whole thing and said it was crap too, must be if she says so as she can put up with all sorts of pish on TV 😉
Gran Torino was a good film!

Raining there is it? Snowing here 😉 Moscow though so no snowboarding ;-(

Hmmm…. Looks good but the idea of a film about someone on their own sounds a bit lame

I watched Moon and I felt it could have been a lot better.
I mean it was a decent idea, but a bit obvious and hardly groundbreaking.
I'd still say it was worth watching but I wouldn't get too excited about it

It doesnt fall into the category you're looking for but I can highly recommend Black Sheep.

Watched it last night and its one of the funniest films I have seen in a long time.

    Solaris

That film is based on an old BBC 6 part drama with John Simm which was really good. I'd be interested to see the film.
