Anyone used / had experience of using either of these security tags / marking?

Yup. Got talked into buying one at a discount. Put little microdots on your bike, record the details on a website. Not had the bike stolen, so can’t vouch for the after sales, but still I’d not bother again. You’re reliant upon somebody scanning the part that has the hidden microdots, and I’m 99% certain the local Plod can’t be arsed to do so, or don’t have the equipment, or if they do it’s hidden in a cupboard somewhere.

Better off keeping an eye on your bike at all times when out and about, and don’t advertise it when at home – i.e. don’t clean it on the street or meet mates outside your house for a group ride. Lock it to something solid when stored. If your neighbours ask about the bike, don’t brag – underplay it; eBay parts special or a mate from Halfords built it from warranty returns.
