Just in case anyone's out and about or thinking about it……
Our village is encased in ice, despite gritting by us locally. There are cars sliding around, reports of the valley road ice bound and abandoned cars leading into the village. Also several landrovers sliding around the village, which means it must be bad…
Looks like it rained much earlier, which froze, then it recently rained again, that just put a layer of water on top of the ice rather than melt it as I'd assumed it would!
Garage locks frozen, car encased in ice, gravel paths solid ice – it's insane.
Everything is best described by the old moor word " Ammel", where everything is encased in a layer of ice.
Not sure what's happening in the rest of the county, but we're not moving. It's meant to thaw slightly later today, but will wait and see. We have a turkey to pick up but it will probably have to wait.
At present it's really bad here……
be warned, and take it easy……..
    cheers
