Mini hijac – is there anything good for t’kids to do at dalbeattie? Or is it just a car park? Not taking their bikes up.

Not really. Good big play park. Rockcliffe just down the road is good for rock pool type stuff and a bit of beach. Good sandy beach at Sandyhills, beware tides and some quick sands. Not a problem unless you wander away from the shore line.
Walks in the forest, town end.
Cocoa bean, Mabie farm park and Dalscone in Dumfries if wet fun required.

Certainly agree re the green/blue routes but any suggestions of upgrading to anything like GT or Whinlatter falls on deaf ears!! Came up in club discussion last night and with our SC dev officer.

As for comments on the rough bits a lot if not most of the original trail was natural, ie as dug, levelled and whackered. After some representation and a survey by the previous shop owner Bran Burn Bash was surfaced by a volunteer group led by Uplift Scotland who are the trail maint contractors.
The berms down to the bridge on Granny Greenlove were rebuilt last year due to “going out of red spec” ( washed out and becoming black route)

The whole Ae forest is basically one big gravel pit/hill and once erosion sets in the trails deteriorate very quickly. There has only been a few hundred yards of maint done this year that I can think of!
