I knew John really well when I was a kid and he was the bloke up the road who rode his bike everywhere (30 years ago). I’m delighted for his friends and family that they now have a conviction.

You’d still get convicted of manslaughter if you were having an argument, pushed somebody over, they hit their head and died (murder if you punched them). Except of course if a motor vehicle is involved, so I’ll be restrained in my celebrations.

Any sweepstakes on sentence? I’ll go for 4 years.

aracer is spot on with the manslaughter comparison. It is the case again and again that you are are going to kill someone, accidentally or not, you really should make sure you are in a vehicle at the time. No better example than the Glasgow bin lorry case.
