Can anyone recommend some good ones ? Lycra shorts to go under baggies, no padding – don’t like it the summer… gets too hot.

If they’re not padded they’re not cycling shorts…

You could try a running shop

I always wear Endura coolmax cotton knickers.

They have padding but it does its job in the heat of summer without getting nasty.

How on earth does the padding get hot!?

As above, if they’re not padded, they’re not cycling shorts!

You could try some tri shorts (as in triathlon), they’re much less padded than cycling shorts. Those boxer type ones just hold onto all the sweat and are generally unpleasant!

erm… me gets too hot. I find the padding prevents airflow to the all important parts of the body which we like to look after. It’s caused me problems in the past, skin needs air to breathe. I don’t dawdle around on a bike and sweat loads in this heat.

    theyre the ones.

I lived in 2x pairs of them for 2 months cycling across Europe in early summer a few years ago. No arse ache, chaffing or anything. Ive never needed to use creams either.

theyve changed the design slightly I noticed when I finally retired my old set (must have done 2,000 miles each!). Now rather than just a fake chamois gusset pad, there is a kind of anti-bac thin towelling piece as well at the front.

All stick works just as well, and is still comfortable.

When I occasionally jump on my pomp to ride to the pub in normal boxers I really feel the seams and they are very uncomfortable. You forget just how much comfrot you get from a properly designed and cut short.

I wear these for adventure racing when you don’t want a pad because you’ll be running and cycling, fantastic in hot weather

    Helly Hansen Boxers

I have a pair of these too, again good under a pair of shorts

    Ron Hill Inifinty Shorts

Over a 2-3 hour ride I don’t miss the pad at all

cotton liners like above are way cooler than lycra

although lycra is better in a downpour.
