I did the Morocco trip with Cycle active they were awesome. Rich Barnard was the British guide and was brilliant, very professional company, our trip was worth every penny and would love to do another of their trips.

You can’t go wrong with a Dales Mountainbikes trip. Have ridden few of them and would suggest the Dales Tour and the Coast to Coast, superb trips. Good guides who understand customer needs, well supported and good food. Dales Bike Centre fantastic base to start your holiday from.

trouble with some ( not naming )companies is that they are not local so you don’t get the best trails. I saw one group on Dartmoor being led by a big name company, across stuff that I wouldn’t recommend to my worst enemy and these poor people were paying for it. you just can’t have an in depth knowledge of everywhere.

Trailmonkey I think it depends on the size and specialism of the company but I do agree with you to a point. The Morocco trip was fantastic as they had a Moroccon guide as well who DID know all the awesome cool hidden away trails.

Having used both Cycle Active and Dales Mountain Biking I’d personally go for DMB. As mt mentions above they have the advantage of the Dales Bike Centre which fully deserves the rave reviews it gets. And the service you’ll get is very personalised and professional. The coast to coast trip was one of the best I’ve ever done.

My experience of Cycle Active wasn’t that great. Depends on the guide you get – it’s one of those firms that uses lots of freelance people of varying quality. The guide we had never stopped moaning about how much he gets paid and wasn’t particularly engaging.

How far you planning on travelling? If your planning North of the border, I know a company up here in the Highlands. The local knowledge is top notch, plus they’ve got an epic Coast to Coast that may take your fancy. Check out ‘handiadventures’

Stu from DMB actually tagged along with us once! (before he was famous) Wev’e never ridden with them as a pack, as it were, but for local advice he’s awesome, & simply because he’s a thoroughly nice fella…I let him have my dosh.
    The cakes are another story!
