   Due to circumstances, redundancy and scrapping around, i have had 5 jobs in the last 2 years, most have been temp jobs whilst looking for something a bit more permanent. Having been told on Friday that the business is looking at cost savings i thought it might be a good idea to update the CV again.

   Only been in the job 6 months, don't think i am at risk but depends on what cost savings mean.

   So whilst trying to keep the CV short and not wanting to leave any gaps, what would be the best way to approach this? the most relevant bits are now and 2 years ago. but some of the gap might also help when looking for a new job, but some bits i would rather forget about!

   temping = good experience in a range of fields?

   include it all but put positive spin, e.g what you learnt each time.

   tailor your cv for each job you apply for, one cv does not fit all job applications. match your capabilities to what is required for the job.

   off topic, why don't cv writers and career advisors have better jobs?

   Not straightforward but your front page should be a short personal statement and a key achievements section, both heavily tailored to the job you're applying for. If this hits the spot for the recruiter they'll turn the page for the full detail. You may want to list your temp jobs as "various temporary contracts", listing a few of the employers and the overall start and finish date. Concentrate your efforts on the jobs that demonstrate you are capable of doing the job you are applying for. Good luck!

   I would probably mention that you've been a temp for X agency in various roles within X industry and probably mention something in the covering letter too. you don't need to be specific, as if you get an interview they can ask you questions if they want. I doubt a recruiter will be that bothered you've been a temp.

   I guess, just don't want to make it look like i have been doing nothing for the best part of 18months, when i have been doing all sorts to pay the bills and some of it has actually been helpful.
