I'm spending a few quiet days in the highlands this week and won't have a bike. We're staying just near Pitlochry and I'm considering a run/walk from Rannoch moor station across Rannoch moor to King's House Hotel in Glencoe and back (20 mile round trip or there abouts). Anyone know what conditions on the ground are like up there at the minute (will it be under 3ft of snow)?

There is no way of crossing Rannoch Moor from east to west except on foot, and a ten mile track links Rannoch Station with the Kings House Hotel on the A82.

No snow on the ground to speak of, and even if you go over the hill instead of round it it's less than 2500 feet, and the snow is pretty patchy at that height just now. It'll be boggy though. Have fun.

Sorry, just read your post properly, re the track. Probably fine, but that's a guess, albeit a reasoned one.
