Watching the “sports” news and I have a question about this cricket game.
Why does the bowler get all the credit when the catcher catches the ball to make the batsman out?

The opportunity to catch is usually created as a result of the bowlers skill, making the ball deviate for example.

If it’s a good catch they do get credit, any tom dick or harry could catch a lot of them though with no prior cricket experience, the same couldn’t be said about bowling

Catches (and stumpings, for wk) are tallied for statistics and credited to the catcher. But as above, most are created by the skill and hard work of the bowler, hence they get the bulk of the credit.

Unless you are Ben Stokes and then you deserve all the credit

OP as others have said the bowler generally creates the opportunity. The fielders are expected to make the catches. That being said my Dad (now in his mid 70’s) always told me “catches win matches”, ie you have to hold them
