I thought they'd said they were going to put a 'cover' on them. The EE-Cycleworks ones look good! Can't beat Claviculas for crank porn though.

If that's porn then it must be some sort of electro-latex fetish porn.

Classy crank porn

Perfer the SI SL:

I like the look f them but surely from an engineering perspective the DA9000 (or any shimano) is far better, those cannondales must flex the arm, then the axle, then the spider, rather than attaching the spider to the crank halfway up the arm?

At the risk of upsetting Al, here's a shiny pic,
[img] [/img]

All running on a Hope Ceramic BB.

Probably not the lightest, nor the stiffest but i'm not the best rider either so they do me fine, i've ran middleburn cranks since 1993 on my bikes, this is my third set - the other two are square taper and still doing service including the original set that have over over 70,000miles on them and the other set used exclusively for ss, with the lifetime guarantee i guess they'll outlast me, another 45 odd years to go then ๐Ÿ™‚

I rather like the look of this setup...

And I love Middleburns as well, particularly with their sweet Uno setup!

Somafunk, I love the way you've taken 2 components that individually look lovely, and combined them into a tart's handbag. That's not just lacking taste, it's anti-taste.

Yep...On their own they are stunning, put them together and they're disgustingly brash n' tacky looking yet at the same time rather alluring, a bit like Geri Halliwel, you may not boast about it down the pub but you would. Was it better before i went tacky?

[img] [/img]

How about these on my ss roadie then?, polished Dura-Ace 7700 cranks on my 1994 Marin Indian Fire Trail, The frame is polished to within an inch of it's life of course and totally unsuitable for salty roads, or fingerprints.

[img] [/img]

I know....i have far too much time on my hands..........

I loved my old Caramba's.
Not particularly light or stiff or even strong as they cracked but I kept them anyway.
[img] [/img]

edit-not mine, just a pic I found online, mine have got a red spider, red outer & inner ring & green middle ring! 8)

I had some Middleburn RS2s in about '94 with red/green/red rings and a red spider.
Thankfully no pics survive, neither did the cranks.

390g for the arms sounds light until you add the BB and rings, so for $1100 the Gravitas ones just don't quite do it for me!

One for the Middleburn fans. A complete British crankset, Middleburn on Middleburn, secured by X-Lite, spinning on Royce. There is nothing better. And its all MINE!! Muhwahwahwah!

Cook Bros were the dogs danglies back in the day, they still look the bollox t'day, i used to have a purple set but the crank taper developed a crack and Cook Bros wouldn't warranty them so that's why i took a strop and bought my first set of middleburns - one of the better decisions i have made in my life.

I'd like a set of Cook Bros for the Pace RC200 frame we have in the workshop, and a set of the original Pace rigid forks, build it up into a lightweight boneshaking singlespeed and dig out the day glo lycra and hit the trails we rode on 20 yrs ago....then realise it was a very bad idea and jump on the hummer wi 140mm of travel instead ๐Ÿ™‚
