    i was just wondering if a tapered steerer would fit on a cotic BFe frame, or does it depend on the headset?

    You would need the correct headset, but it’ll fit, yes.

    if it has the latest 44mm headtube, then yes.

    if it has the older 1 1/8 headtube then no.
