Down there in Sept for a week with missus and sprog.
Should be able to fit in a couple of half days.
What shouldn't I miss. Is Gawton worth a trip? ( I'm no downhiller but HSD sounds good), plus I could mince down Egypt..
I don't mind a climb if the descent challenging 
cornwall is fairly big..where are you staying?
The, erm, camel trail, and, erm, tramway...... 
Check out the fully sussed website, there was a race recently at united downs, the GPS track is on there & there's loads of trails around that area.
The Camel trail is a waste of a day don't bother. The first 4 miles east of Padstow are lovely but the rest is a complete waste of time.

I'd disagree , while it's not a challenging ride it's defintely a good family day out .There's plenty of nice scenery , good cafe/tea rooms along the route and then pasties at the Chough bakery in Padstow.
we did the entire route when my wife had not been on her bike for 2 years (due to being a new mummy and busy) so it's easy enough to ride.
I don't get what you thought was great about it. I did it with my misses over Easter who doesn't cycle much. The first few miles had cracking views of the Camel estuary. After that it was a boring completely featureless track in forest with no interesting features whatsoever. I wasn't looking for a challenging or technical ride but a few nice fields or views of any sort would have been nice.
If you're thinking of doing a ride @ Gawton, which is in Devon not Cornwall btw, then Dartmoor is not too much further on & has a variety of trails.
I know some routes on Bodmin Moor mainly around Caradon Hill/Minions which I have on GPX files if you want I'll send them to you - email in my addy.
We nightride during the week so you can join us if you want - I'm in E.Cornwall.

Crispy - when your driving down from Bradford, Gawton seems like its close enough not to miss (even if it's not quite Devon). That night ride might be a great idea, thankyou.
Jambo - Mega with 36's but trail lid and knee pads. Capable of most stuff except gaps and huge drops, will I die?
Is Tavi Woods good as well?
Does the push up take long?
Camel Trail - We have an old Border Collie so will probably just take in the start with the views as an out an back.

gawton is in devon. admittedly its a stones throw from cornwall but its on the right side of the tamar.
there is nothing do or die on supertavi and egypt but they are very steep and it'll take a while to get your head around it. push up is a steep 20 mins.
tavi woodlands is well worth a morning/afternoon and is only 3 miles down the road.
the track at portreath is worth a visit if you can jump.
My in laws are in Portreath, and i used the mining trail from there to Devron on the south coast the other week, partly in training for the HONC. Went out in the evening and did a 24 mile ride,out and back, not technical, but 90% of road. Noticed there was lots of interesting tracks leading of the trail (to be explored at a later date), as it was quiet i was able to ride it fast. There is also a cafe on route. Would be more of a family ride, but done at speed it was good fun.

Edit: There will be a 4th track at Gawton by the time you head down which sits in difficulty level between HSD and the other two, looks ace, can't wait to get a proper ride in on that one, the Tavi boys have done a cracking job putting that one in.

From Perranporth to Chapel Porth & back is 'ansome, shame the coast path is off limits to cyclists.

Also st Agnes beacon, between chapel porth and st Agnes is quite amusing, whichever descent you pick
Although not strictly legal on a bike, I did a big chunk of the coastal path during a few heatwaves back in 03. Was positively primeval in parts. I'd love to go back there and run it.
