    Bicycle – uncool
    Motorbike – cool

Only the opposite sex can judge cool and uncool – all cycling is uncool, but that’s not the point it’s fun so…

    – red hot. Hipsters are so far beyond this now (the ones that survived riding around busy cities on such idiotic machines that is).

Ok, I am currently in Dalston, current home of ‘cool’, and a quick observation suggests:

    Bicycle – Very cool.
    Scooters – Lukewarm.
Motorcycles – Don’t be seen dead on one.

Taking it to another level of detail:

    Cheap mountain bikes – Uncool.
    Modern road bikes – Lukewarm.
Fixies – A bit past it.
Vintage Peugeot road bikes – Cool.
Vintage Peugeot road bikes, singlespeeded with swept-back handlebars – Ice cold.

Dutch roadsters and general transport bikes are cool
Fixed wheel road bikes are cool
Mudguards are cool (compared with a wet ar*e)
    Hub dynamos are cool

And apparently slopestyle bikes (whatever they are) are cool according to Son1

Fixing said technical with twigs, bracken, sheep doings and guts – cool

I’ve got a 1×10 setup 29er and my other bike is a cheap Trek hybrid. I thought I was pretty uncool but thanks for confirming.

seadog – sheep guts as bike repair tools? very cool. unless the sheep was still alive shortly before the repairs were carried out, then maybe not so cool. but then if you butchered the beast yourself and wore the fleece to complete the wild man survivalist look, then maybe cool again.

are 26 inch wheels niche enough now to be cool?

Niche isn’t cool, niche is beards and real ale….which is past the uncool event horizon and accelerating wildly towards folk music…

    folk music? yikes!

And once you think folk music is cool…line dancing is an easy step to take….
It’s like drugs.. You start with a little spliff and end up in the bogs at Tescos with a needle hanging out of your arm..
    So niche…just say no..

So I have a hybrid 29er made by Chainreaction’s own brand Vitus, must be seriously uncool. 🙁

    I have a beard and it’s a singlespeed if that helps…

I’ve passed some of the comments on to The Yak. Here’s his reply.

“JoeG, The Yak is impressed by your comments. However The Yak is neither cool or uncool, The Yak is just there. The Yak will always be there, the candle in the dark, the water in the desert. The Yak is even there for fools like CynicAl. The Yak offers CynicAl this advice; Get your fatbike fixed you fool. The Yak would post these comments himself but Mark still reuses to accept The Yak’s friendship. The Yak pities Mark.
The Yak leaves with this thought. A wise man makes his own decisions, an ignorant man follows public opinion.”

The Yak the buggered off on my Pugsley (which I can’t ride due to a knackered foot) saying something about sorting out the problem with the pavement kerb design.

    Commuter motorcycle – Dead uncool
Blacked out cafe racer that makes people think the world is ending when it drives by – very cool. Girls like it more than singlespeed road bikes too so that has to be factored in.

it’s important to quantify the fact that no one on this forum is in the “cool” box. If anyone here was cool, they wouldn’t be here. They’d get there above they’re popular opinion box here into the real world. What we have to understand here is that these opinions are enclosed in a small forum box!! Genuine opinions aren’t about be9ing cool/uncool
