Ok, I am currently in Dalston, current home of ‘cool’, and a quick observation suggests:

Bicycle – Very cool.
Scooters – Lukewarm.
Motorcycles – Don’t be seen dead on one.

Taking it to another level of detail:

Cheap mountain bikes – Uncool.
Modern road bikes – Lukewarm.
Fixies – A bit past it.
Vintage Peugeot road bikes – Cool.
Vintage Peugeot road bikes, singlespeeded with swept-back handlebars – Ice cold.

Dutch roadsters and general transport bikes are cool
Fixed wheel road bikes are cool
Mudguards are cool (compared with a wet ar*e)
Hub dynamos are cool

And apparently slopestyle bikes (whatever they are) are cool according to Son1

Porteur racks – cool
Coaster brakes – cool
SSCX – cool
Calling fixed wheel bikes ‘fixies’ – uncool
Riding an inappropriate bike – cool

I’ve got a 1×10 setup 29er and my other bike is a cheap Trek hybrid. I thought I was pretty uncool but thanks for confirming.

it’s important to quantify the fact that no one on this forum is in the “cool” box. If anyone here was cool, they wouldn’t be here. They’d get there above they’re popular opinion box here into the real world. What we have to understand here is that these opinions are enclosed in a small forum box!!
