I’m upgrading from 3 x 9 to 1 x 11. Will I need a new freehub or does the 11 speed cassette fit in the same space?
    Current hubs are Deore.

You can only fit a shimano cassette to a shimano hub. So your limited to those. Same freehub

Edit to word it properly you can’t fit the sram 11sp as shimano don’t make the xd driver. The shimano 11 is the same size and fitting as the 9sp.

Unless you are looking at a SRAM NX cassette but I think I’d stick with XT

I’m probably be fitting a hope crank so I’m happy to stick with shimano.

Thought Shimano 11speed was although the same profile a slightly larger body?

My road wheels are 9,10,11 speed compatible and because I was fitting a 10spd cassette I had to add a spacer shim that was included.

    ???

EDIT: Ignore me, just googled it and road 11spd is different and XT 11 fits 9 spd freewheels

Your 11 speed Shimano cassette will fit fine.

You can also lob a chainring onto your triple crank and not bother with replacing them.
