So, I’m a big fan of the iPod touch. But, what’s getting my goat is that that it has been available with 64 GB since 2009. It’s now 2014!! Whaat???! I thought that these things doubled in performance every 18 months or something. Has technology reached its zenith already? What’s going on?

Youre referring to Moore’s law, which states the amount of transistors on a processor will double each year. Thats obviously not sustainable, and has reached its limit.

This means we need to have more inventive ways of increasing processing power.

It doesnt really apply to memory.

Plus, memory demands will be largey driven by customer demand and value. Who can listen to all 64gb of music in a portable device?
