Been working for a company for a very brief period. Knew from week 2 that it wasn't right (won't go into detail).
Met with line manager today to discuss things. We've never really exactly hit it off and I think he has had something against me from the start but not a problem as I had decided that if the meeting couldn't produce a positive result, that it was time for me to go.
I had my resignation letter ready. He was being his usual unhelpful self and I'd had enough of the conversation going nowhere so I said that if he wanted me off the team, that I would make life easy and resign - to which he didn't reply.
He then said he needed to make a call, came back and the first thing he said was that he was terminating my contract. I then gave him my resignation letter but he said he couldn't accept it as he had terminated the agreement first - I said that he should have accepted my offer to resign 5 mins prior.
He now says that he terminated the agreement.
The same outcome has been achieved so I'm not too bothered, but it occured that any file on me will now show that they terminated me, does this matter and if it does where do I stand - there was noone else present?
