15 miles each way of hilly terrain but main roads, this would be fine for the cash wouldn't it?
do panniers require specific mounting points?

It looks like it will do the job nicely. Seems to have a triple chainset, so easy to get up anything.

Pannier mounting – if the frame doesn't have suitable eyelets, then you can mount panniers using "p" clips, which mount on the stays. Have a look on the SJS website for this sort of thing – it's right up their, er, street.

If commuting, even during the summer, consider fitting full mudguards: You'll be really grateful not to have a soaking wet backside and feet when you arrive at work.

ah good plan re p clips and mudguards. Whats good regarding panniers for a laptop and clothes?

A good w/proof pannier (Ortlieb, Vaude) worth the £ IMO.

Your rak really needs frame-mounts at the dropouts btw, tho p-clips are OK at the stays for the upper mount.

That seems to have rack mounts at the dropout, but not at the tops of the stays. Looks fine for the money to me. 🙂
