    Bwitish, Bwexitish?

Of course I want him to do well, he’s a dedicated man who deserves it.

Would be nice to see him No1.

Post back if he gets it would you, I’m watching a film 😉

Would be a fantastic achievement. Won’t stop internet aresholery from his detractors, but still a fantastic achievement.

I really, really hope he gets some decent media training then..
The guy just sounds so dull and uninspiring.
He’s the living embodiment of a Coldplay song.
Dull, dreary, safe, but loved by Daily Wail reading middle class England.
If the colour beige played tennis, it would be called Andy..

Not denying he’s a great player, but you can’t tell wether he’s happy or sad in his interviews. 😐

He’s a sportsman, not a presenter. I love the way he comes across, keeps it real.

If ye want entertained, watch him play, not speak.

    Game set match!

Just needs to win the semi final to get that #1 ranking, game on!

I flew him to Shanghai a few years ago – lovely bloke. I’m not a Djokavik fan, but I think they are both good mates, and Novak was very complimentary on the prospect of Andy taking the No1 spot.

+1 I think he actually interviews really well. Very honest, humble and normal. Actually quite funny too in a dry way especially when talking about family stuff.

If you knew what he’d been through and the pressure that has been on him to represent those kids from Dunblane and be a beacon of hope for the town then his demeanour becomes a lot more understandable.

He’s eluded to it in interviews and is always on the brink of tears even mentioning it in passing.

I too to verbally despise him but following this particular interview I was converted to a fan.

When you hear him not in a 1 to 1 interview he is funny, bright and clearly a decent guy. I think he is extra careful about doing anything other than vanilla in interviews as anyone british and successful seems to be a media target (hamilton is a prime example)

Watching him at the davis cup was awesome. So much passion and ability.

Plus I pass his mums all the time riding and she even says hello back 🙂

    And he’s wearing a poppy

Great respect for him. Not the best player, but makes the best of what he’s got through damned hard work. It’s not beautiful tennis either (and second serve has been looking a bit dodgy recently) but the results speak for themselves

Go Andy indeed. Then perhaps he can cheer up a bit on court!!!

And he’s there. Milos Raonic pulls out inured. Andy Murray world no. 1!

If I read it correctly, the ATP ranking system sounds a bit odd, your ranking is based on your best 18 tournaments in the previous 12 months.

But the system is what it is and it’s not Andy’s fault his semi-final opponent had to pull out in advance through injury, Novak is no longer #1, congrats to Andy!

He joins a pretty small club. Only 26 players have held the no 1 spot since 1973.

Good on him. I personally like his dour dry humour. What I like the most about him and is most inspirational is that from a young age he was so focussed and I think from the age of about 15 he took himself off to Spain and the academy that produces alot of the Spanish stars, because he realised he’d get nowhere sticking with the British Tennis system. Well done Andy.

    Fantastic day today!

Andy will be gutted though, I’m absolutely positive he’d rather have won today and had his moment with his fans. Today is his reward for working like ****, digging in and believing in his abilities. This time last year Djokovic was so far ahead you’d have forgiven Murray for throwing in the towel, but that’s not him.

He’s my favourite sportsman since Allan Wells.

Deserved number one spot, this last six months he has played some incredible tennis and mentally been a rock!

Love to see him close out the other two slams now.
