Hi there, I am hoping to bleed my Shimano brakes at the weekend and going to give the calipers a good clean. Was going to use Isopropyl alcohol on the disks and calipers(pads removed).
Was hoping to give the pistons a clean and wondered what the best thing to use is, and also whether it is worth lubricating them with something like Fork Juice or something else? Any suggestions most welcome.

I’d be interested in some feedback on this too, I noticed last night that one of my pistons is a bit sticky.

Careful not to pop them out too far. Clean with a cotton bud with IPA on it & lube with mineral oil once dried.

I think most people just use mineral oil on the pistons, works well and ensures you won’t damage the seals.

I’d have thought oil would do it, a lighter one to shift anything mucky.

    Remove pads
Work on one piston at a time.
Drip some mineral oil around the piston
Work the piston gently in and out a few times, rinse with clean mineral oil and repeat 3 or 4 times, wipe off excess oil.
    Repeat for remaining pistons.

as above – ipa should be fine and then only use the fluid your brake use to lubricate – ie for shimano mineral oil.
