I have some old binoculars – when looking through them, the optics seem pretty good to me, except they have black spots! It seems to be little black specks actually inside them, so I wondered if it's possible to take them apart and clean them out?

Wouldn't propose doing that myself – so are there specialists I can consult?

Thanks for reading – and for any help…

Might be some sort of mould or fungus; camera lenses can suffer from this. Could be that the coating on the lenses has reacted to damp or chemicals in the air. Maybe the sealing has deteriorated.

You could probably get them cleaned, by someone who cleans/repairs camera equipment. Might cost a lot of money mind. And some binoculars are filled with Nitrogen (possibly to help them float in water?), which I'd imagine would make things difficult.
