Had mine checked and it was 6.8.
I either have fruit for breakfast or porridge. Granary bread from our local bakers and a good helping of vegetables with every meal.
I’m not saying I eat healthily but I don’t shovel burgers down my neck every day either.
Then my brother who doesn’t have as good a diet as me has a reading of 2.4.(I have 1 beer every day though ,he doesn’t. )
    How does that work?
What was the biggest (easiest!) change you made to get your cholesterol down?
One of our staff has a tub of salad for her linch which is 3 x 2 inches . It’s tiny , she doesn’t eat any crap but her cholesterol is higher than mine.
    I’m confused.

After having my cholesterol tested last year my doc told me I had the lowest reading in his practice. Mainly genetic he told me.

Is that your HDL or total? What did the person who tested you suggest?

    Just ignore it.

Mine is very low, with very good LDL to HDL levels.
It is genetic, I don’t eat healthy according to a lot of the perceived “wisdom” regarding reducing cholesterol.

There is a growing interest in sugar as the cause of higher cholesterol levels.

You know the saying ‘you are what you eat’ ?. Well you’re not.

The cholesterol in your body isn’t the cholesterol you ate, just as the meat in your muscles isn’t made of beef.

I lived like a monk for six months and still had “dangerously” high cholesterol.

I saw a heart specialist about it as there is a history of heart disease in my family. She looked at my numbers, everything on the healthy side of normal apart from the cholesterol, and told me it was nothing to do with diet. Its just bad luck in picking your parents.

Do you check your blood pressure regularly? High blood pressure + high cholesterol is not a good combination.

Common misconception held by the sanctimonous and thin that dietary problems are entirely your own fault.

Get some professional advice, mine was 7 when I had my heart attack @42yrs old, turns out that my liver has been overdosing me with cholesterol all my life and was only found when I had a nstemi heart attack whilst on 1st run at BikePark Wales.
3 stents later and taking statins for the rest of my day’s,cholesterol dropped to 2.5 within a month on statins with no noticeable side effects.

Put me in the OP’s category.

Benecol improves it a little bit but you won’t have any money left.

    Hi Cheekyboy

I was in the alps 3 months later
I figured that if altitude and 36c didn’t kill me then nowt would.
I now have to take blood pressure pills +beta blockers +asprin +statins but yeah feel fine.

I have bought a trek powerfly 9lt ebike for razzing around, but still ride my five also especially on more steep technical stuff hidden around the south wales valley’s and uplift days.
