  • Cheese left out for a day – ok to shove in the fridge and eat as normal?

Bought some nice cheese from a cheese monger op’ north yesterday. Sat in the boot of the car yesterday afternoon and then on the side in the kitchen since 8pm last night….

Remembered it just now – seems a bit soft. Am I ok to just shove it in the fridge and consume over the next couple of weeks (as per normal) or am I going to give myself botulism and die?

It’ll kill you. Send it to me for disposal.

Possibly depends on what kind of cheese it is but unless it smells weird/er or has mould on, I’d pop it in the fridge.

    has mould on,

If it’s go mould on it chop the mould off it, my wee brother does that, chucks a bit of cheddar out cause of a wee bit of mold, chop it and it’s perfectly fine.

You’ll be fine to eat it. Just have a taste / smell and if it seems off then don’t eat it, or just eat a little now and on the basis you are not sick finish it off later. Harder cheeses keep better outside the fridge so unless it was a super runny cheese in the first place it will be edible.

We don’t keep our cheese in the fridge in the colder months. Just pop it in one of these in a cool place in the kitchen:

In summertime when they start getting a bit high, it will go in the fridge.

Well, it’s your Chaource really; but, unless it Brie smelling worse than Stinking Bishops socks, I don’t think you’ll Perroche if you do eat it.

It’s not proper cheese unless it has mould on it somewhere godedamit!!

Eat it, if it kills you then you at least have gone out with some cheesy goodness as one of your last acts 😉
