Hey, just wondering how you change a r56 07 cooper s key battery?

Can’t seem to see anywhere to pop it open.

Can I do it or does it need to go to mini/BMW?

Tried that, must be the old key as the back is just one solid piece of plastic.

    Thanks though 🙂

Unfortunately it’s a trip back to the dealer and potentially a new key as they are rechargeable batteries and you can’t replace them (that is what the wife was told with her minis).

New key if it’s the battery that’s gone. I take it the other key is working if not it could be another issue. The batteries charge in the slot and aren’t replaceable. the video above is for cars with comfort access which is a optional extra and has an extra battery in the key to allow you to lock/unlock the car without pressing the buttons on the key.

Is the battery faulty ? Do you use the key regularly in the car, or has it not been used for some time. They need to be used as they charge whilst in the ignition. A ‘flat’ key can take many hours of use to recover.
