Yep it's up the valley, get the train to val or go to letour and over the saddle into the top of it. Such a sweet track. Well worth a visit. One thing to note. They are only letting 5 or 6 bikes on each train now so best thing to do is get the chair back up at the end of the day and do the col du possetts run back along the valley.

yer there is a riding centre at Les Houches, i thought you meant the new dh stuff at val…

Val wins hands down imo for that style of riding…

yeah we like vallorcine when we tried it for the first time but as you said getting back on the train can be a problem with the 6 bike rule although there is a nice little bar to wait at if its the end of the day!
I don't think the vallorcine lift opens until july so we usually make this run the last of the day

There's a small 'park' at les houches. A dh run at Vallorcine (august) and a new red and blue run from L'index to flegere and another red run from flegere to les praz. OPens 18th June. Nobody has ridden it all yet but the bottom bit is a load of switchbacks.

There is also some hidden north shore that nobody has used for years and the aforemention bike jumps next to the PGHM helo's.

There was a sort of dh run at le tour, don't know if thats still there as it isnt open yet.

You've basically got 3 built DH areas in the Chamonix Valley – Les Houches Bike Park is, er, in Les Houches – a couple of km down the valley from Chamonix itself (various runs for different abilities including a lot of Shore). Then there's Vallorcine (very steep and technical in places), which is just beyond the top of the Valley on the way towards the border at Chatelard. Finally, the actual Chamonix Bike Park" itself is the newest addition – this only officailly opened fully about two and a half weeks ago, as there were a few issues with snow and logisitics that delayed it from the 3rd July. This is just outside the town centre at Flegere, next to th Golf Course. There's 2 reds (can be ridden as one continous descent, with a 1300m height loss) and a blue – and the top section "Planet Mars" is great fun in particular! If it's gelpful for anyone, we just did a review of it -Review of Chamonix Bike Park July 2010 Hope that helps!
