chainsets shimano or race face

i can either get a deore 590 or £50 and nick the slx chainset fo my wifes bike or spend a little more and get a new slx £90 or a race face evolve xc chainset for either 100 for 09 or 110 for 2010 (double and bash) are the race face chainsets worth the extra over slx, re the rings more durable and canu use shimano ht2 bb with a raceface chainset

I very much doubt that the rings will be more durable than an SLX - the SLX has a steel/carbon middle whereas the Raceface (I assume) uses Alu. Also, Raceface BB's have a very poor rep.

IMO the SLX is better value.

The Race Face bottom end chainsets are poor in my experience, the rings are made of cheese and the spiders are not much better.

Shimano all the way...
