Just tried to fit a XCR Single Ring Chainguide (lovely quality and quick delivery from superstar) to my sons bike. He’s running 1 x 9 to keep the weight down. Nothing clever BB UN54 / fsa cranks… but the chain line is way off. I’d need to bring the chain guide out about 10mm to get it working! Am I missing something simple?

Any advice welcome… otherwise it will be going back.

Have you got the ring fitted to the outer ring position? It should be fitted to the middle position really.. about, oooh, 10mm difference 😉

    I did the same…

as said above, chainring needs to be on the middle setting… you may also need a e-type bottom bracket which compensates for the circa 2.5mm width of a the xcr chain device body without messing up the chainline or crank alignment. if you are running an octalink setup, these bb’s are as rare as hens teeth (i know as i’ve just hunted one down for my own 1×9 setup, also using a xcr device)… i think wiggle have a couple left.

Thanks guys but its set up with a 32t Single speed ring on the middle.
Standard “old school” square taper shimano BB.
I can’t make any sense of it!

maybe it’s the cranks. I’ll dig about in the spares box… see if something different works.
