My missus had a small prang last year and our car was classed as a cosmetic write off. We got a payout of £2k and agreed to buy the car back from the insurance company for £80.

I used some of the money to fix the car and get it back on the road. It’s just passed its MOT, and I now need to reinsure. Trying to decide wether I should now get it insured as third party F&T or fully comp.

If I go fully comp and it’s involved in another crash what happens? Is it still covered to the value of the car etc?

Yup, but covered to the value of a cat D wrote-off

What’s the price difference when you’re getting the quotes between comp & FT? You get any additional perks like glass cover on the comp to make it worth the extra?

£90 difference. Only difference is fully comp has windscreen cover included.

Wonder what the market value of a Cat D write off would be on a 10 year old Polo. Probably not much.
