We use AT&T teleconferencing at work, and I’m sure there must be a way to use my computer to dial into it. But I can only find bits and pieces and hints through my company, so are there any other options?

It’s an 0800 number, but my home phone is crap and has no headset.

Search for Softphones. There’s lots of free ones out there.

You need a VOIP provider too don’t you?

Do you use Sametime at work? (I’m guessing you do if you work for who I think you might work for). How about using Sametime Unified Telephony. I don’t use it but know a couple of the guys in my team do.

Skype. You can dial any worldwide freephone number for free.

(I have many daily conference calls, always just use Skype)

I’d like to use Sametime Unified Telephony but I’m not provisioned for it yet.. ffs.. plus I’m not allowed to use Skype.

In any case I found a way around it. There’s a voip add-on for Google Talk.. it’ll let you call US freephone numbers for free, and all these teleconf facilities have US freephone numbers. Sweet.

Could also be a handy method of calling any US toll free number for free.

Sametime is pretty good actually for computer to computer.

Microsoft like ‘Lync’ which also is pretty decent.

Despite the fact i have both on my machine, i usually use the phone 🙂

Lotus Notes is diabolical, but Sametime generally is cool.

I just hate sitting with a phone glued to my ear for hours.. plus its batteries don’t last long. Will be less of an issue when I recycle my old phone to a work phone when I upgrade.
